Wholly Guacamole Review and Giveaway

I love Mexican food. Growing up we had planned dinners with a different theme every day of the week.  Mexican night was every Thursday with  dishes like enchiladas, fajitas and my personal favorite, my dad’s Mexican salad. Out of all the days of the week, Thursday was my favorite because I knew I was going to go home to some yummy food, plus the next day was Friday ;). So I was very excited when few weeks ago I got a huge package from Wholly Guacamole with 11 products inside. Of course I knew it was coming.  But the anticipation drove me nuts. I have bought their products before so I was already a fan. I love Guacamole and make it often so I always buy a avocados and salsa, but I didn’t want to buy any knowing I was going to receive some assortment of products that might leave the products that I already bought to spoil.

 

 

But finally it was here. The first day I got the package I went ahead and opened the two layered Guacamole and salsa dip went at it with my chips I bought within the first 30 minutes.   I was really impressed. Fist of all it was spicy. And when Wholly Guacamole labels their items as spicy they mean it! Lots of companies call their food products spicy yet when you taste it there is no heat from the pepper at all. But this one had some strong heat, not scorching hot, but very hot.  If you are a heat lover then you know what I’m talking about.    It was my favorite out of all the items because they had both the salsa and guacamole in one product, and it tasted great. But some products that I’m looking forward it.

I got 8 guacamole products and 2 salsa products and one layered dip with salsa and guacamole. They have some cheese products as well which are really good. I wish I was able to get some of that, because it would have made a world of a difference. I really like cheese with my chips, and hardly eat it without them. So far I have tried 5 products so far. including the chunky guacamole which is just like the way I make my guacamole at home, with some small chunks of avocados in it.  I love the way that tastes.  But what I’m looking forward to most to is the 100 calorie packs of guacamole. I think that is such a clever idea for people who are keeping track of their weight.  And if you are going somewhere you can just throw one in your bag and you can have a meal without having to worry about how to store the rest.

My life is a bit hectic. I am always out and about. I am a preschool teacher and I work with the kids at my church on Sundays.  So dirty hands and the transferring of germs are always a problem with me. I always make sure I have a hand sanitizer with me to protect myself before touching any surface. They are great for using after when I am constantly cleaning and touching things when I work with kids.  sanitizers are also great for  when I shop . Five Summer Getaways Every Kid Should Experience #GreatGetaways

As a kid, I spent most of my summers at home watching TV, going to the pool or hanging out with my friends. I wish I could have done more with my time from school than being almost excited when school opens. One thing about being a kid is that you have so much freedom to explore all you want without the stress of obligations. So here are some summer getaways that I think every kid should experience.

Disney World
Though I have never visited Disney World, I still think it is a must for kids. They grow up watching and loving these Disney movies and the chance to see the characters up front and it one place is just magic. There are so many attractions and rides to feel like they are living through the characters life. And the characters do come to life,and are all over the place! How cool. There are live exotic animals and each resort will have you feeling like you are in another town.


Hershey, Pennsylvania

My church went there when I was a teenager and had the time of my life with my friends and family. There is so much to see and do. You can see how your favorite candy bars get made from cocoa to bar. And you get to sample it, of course (which is the best part). There are also great rides. One I remember called the claw, which had my friends and I screaming like crazy. We made jokes about it for years

Washington, DC
There’s so much to do there, I just couldn’t pick one. Living near Washington, DC is great. I can take a train and in less than an hour, I will be in a city with so much museums and history. There are so may things to do there. I can see a performance ant the Kennedy Center, visit the National Zoo, see an exhibition on permanent display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, learn about history at the National Museum of American History. . So many attractions, you will never be bored.

Colonial Williamsburg
Living in Northern Virginia, I am privileged to be in a state that has so much history and of course a lot of places I could go and learn about the past of this country. And what makes colonial Willamsburg special is that there is still an old time feel to it. Many of the homes that were there during the American Revolution are still there and restored. There are homes of important people in this country’s and Virginia’s history that are museums. People can rent period clothing, and spend 18th century money. There are actors that portray people who played a vital part of this country’s history like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

A Water Park
In the hot summer what better way to keep the kids entertained than to take them to a water park. At first people think water parks are boring, but if you go to one with lots of rides, it isn’t. There is just so much to do there. You can swim, go through the slides, bubblers, and fountains.




Wow writing all this post brought me so much memories. I have yet to go to Disney, but it is still on my to-do list. And I’m sure most kids have that as one of their dream destinations, if they haven’t been there yet.

My Family's Favorite Pasta Dish Recipe and #Carrabbas Limited Time Offers

I love pasta, and so does my family. It is certainly a must have in our pantry and we eat at least once a week. It brings us together and its one of those meals where not even the pickiest of eaters don’t want.  Today I took the Carrabba’s Personality Quiz on Facebook ( You can Take the Carrabba’s Personality Quiz on Facebook). and my personality is the Penne Franco, which is described as being one of a kind and liking to keep things fresh and exciting.  I think it describes me to a T. I get bored easily, so personality- wise I’m always looking for something to to that will keep me excited and entertained.

My personality quiz result, the  Penne Franco, is a dish that includes “penne with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and ricotta salata”. It sounds yummy and different, something I know I would want to try. And it really reminds me of something I would make as well. I love sundried tomatoes with my pasta. The sweet-tangy taste brings pizazz to any pasta meal. And I like to just throw things I find in the kitchen in my pasta, so I create something new each time. If I find some asparagus that has been sitting in my fridge, it goes in, even corn. Anything. It’s all a part of making the meal comforting — and me.
Here is one a recipe for one of my favorite pasta dishes at least the base, as I am the type that will change up the recipe depending on what is in the home. This recipe stems from my mother’s who make something similar. She is always the type to put anything she finds in the kitchen in her food so it wont go bad, if it stays unused. I learned that from her, and so many of my recipes come from helping my mother cook in the kitchen, since I am the oldest of four girls, all much younger them me.


3/4 pound pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 pound Italian sausage
1 pound of shrimp
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes, rehydrated in water
1 1/2  jar of spaghetti sauce

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and reserve.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil and sausage; cook through until no longer pink. During the last 5 minutes of cooking, add onion and garlic to skillet. Add spaghetti sauce,  bell pepper, basil and sundried tomatoes with liquid.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes to slightly reduce. Add shrimp; cover skillet and simmer on reduced heat until the shrimp is fully cooked.
  4. Add pasta to skillet and mix together. Sprinkle with cheese, if you want and serve immediately.
